Yamin Ma
Yamin MaFounder & Executive Chair
Ms. Yamin Ma has an M.Ed. in Curriculum Design and Instruction from Queen’s University, Canada. Since 1995, she has taught Chinese at I/GCSE, A/AS and IB B levels to students ranging from beginners to near-native speakers. She has taught Chinese to both primary and secondary school students.

Ms. Yamin Ma has run workshops for teachers in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign/second language. She is the author of “Easy Steps to Chinese” series (published by Beijing Language University Press) and “Chinese Made Easy” series (published by Joint Publishing Limited Hong Kong). She is currently teaching Chinese at an international school in Hong Kong.

Penny Pan

Ms. Penny Pan has over 19 years experience in teaching Chinese as an additional language for international schools in Australia, China and Hong Kong. She served as curriculum coordinator for Utahloy International School of Guangzhou, Hong Kong Academy and Hong Kong International School before she joined Canadian International School of Hong Kong five years ago as the Director of Chinese Studies.

She is a frequent conference and workshop presenter and has also organized several Chinese language conferences. She has served as the Chinese expert for CIS (Council of International Schools) /WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation visiting teams.

Xinying Li

Ms. Xinying Li holds a postgraduate diploma in Applied Linguistics from Tsinghua University in Beijing. She started teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the UK in 1990, and has a wealth of experience in teaching Chinese at I/GCSE, A/AS and IB B levels. Ms. Xinying Li has run workshops for teachers in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign/second language.

She is the author of “Easy Steps to Chinese” series (published by Beijing Language University Press) and “Chinese Made Easy” series (published by Joint Publishing Limited Hong Kong). She is currently teaching Chinese at an international school in Hong Kong.

Bin Li
Bin LiMember
Ms. Bin Li has been Deputy Head of Chinese International School (CIS), located in Hong Kong, since 2007. With responsibilities that include oversight of the Chinese programme within the school’s dual-language context, she has undertaken a comprehensive review of the pre-K to 12 Chinese curriculum continuum.

Prior to joining CIS, Ms. Li was based in Singapore where she worked for the International Baccalaureate Organization as Asia-Pacific Regional Manager for its Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). Before that, Ms. Li worked in a school in Beijing in a variety of capacities, including Director of the International Section and as a teacher of both English and Chinese as second languages.

Julia Zhu
Julia ZhuMember
Ms. Julia Zhu is currently Head of Chinese at West Island School. She received both bachelor and master degrees in Education. She has many years’ experience of working with students from a diverse cultural background and wide range of ability.

Ms. Zhu has particular interest in developing classroom strategies which motivate learners to enjoy learning Chinese and maximize their potential.
